Electricity cut on Manus as Dutton extends the siege

| November 1, 2017 | Reply

All electricity generators have been removed from all compounds at the Manus detention centre this morning (Wednesday, 1 November) as Dutton extends the brutal siege of the centre (see photos).

There is now no electricity for any of the detention centre. The loss of power will cause further problems for the toilets and water, as some at least rely on electricity driven pumps.

Lawyers are still waiting for a judge to be appointed to for an urgent Supreme Court hearing this morning to consider an injunction to stop the closure of the centre and to restore services.
