Thanks to all those who made it to this year’s World Refugee Day rally on Sunday June 24, marking 20 years since mandatory detention began.
About 500 turned out at Sydney Town hall to hear from speakers including Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young, Afghan Hazara Abdul Hekmat, the MUA’s Warren Smith, Robin de Crespigny author of The People Smuggler and RAC’s Ian Rintoul. It followed another rally the day before organised by Welcome to Australia.
